Remove the cable grounding of the vehicle battery before installing the new radio. The grounding cable is connected to the negative terminal of the battery to the frame or chassis of your vehicle. Use an adjustable wrench or pliers set to loosen the screw holding the cable clamp to the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the cable from the post and put it away from the battery until the new stereo is fully installed.

Replace the cable clamp around the negative battery post once the new stereo is installed, and tighten the screw with wrench or pliers English.

Remove the factory stereo

Get a repair manual for your particular vehicle. The manual will give you instructions on how to access the stereo mounting dock in your car. Some vehicles require radio removal keys (or DIN removal tools) to remove the stereo serial dock stereo in the dashboard. Other vehicles require you to remove dash panels surrounding the radio to access the stereo mounting bracket.

For vehicles that need the removal keys, insert the two ends of each tool into the openings at each end face factory radio. Push the tools all the way into the openings until they snap into place. Pull out on the keys while pulling the radio from the dashboard. The unit will slide off the bench long enough for you to have access to the wires connected to the outputs on the rear panel of the stereo.

For other vehicles, remove the groups as indicated in the manual of the car and remove the screws or bolts that hold the stereo in the stereo mounting bracket. Once the screws are removed, pull the radio support and disconnect the stereo outputs on the back of the unit wiring.

Disconnect the cable from the antenna on the rear panel of the radio. The antenna cable is a single black cable is connected to the output of the FM antenna cable on the right side of the receiver of stock.

Adapt the stereo mounting dock for the new stereo

Choose from a faceplate adapter aftermarket installation or a sleeve (or collar) to the mounting spring vehicle compatible with the new radio. The faceplate adapters can be purchased from a car audio jack and designed specifically for your make and model of vehicle. A sleeve installation is often included with the new stereo.

Place the installation sleeve stereo mounting dock vehicle. Use a flat screwdriver to bend the metal tabs inside the cover to secure it in the spring assembly of the vehicle.

To use a faceplate adapter, insert the adapter into the vacant stereo dock vehicle assembly. Push the faceplate adapter into the opening until it snaps into place.

Connect the new stereo

Use an adapter cable to connect the new radio for your car stereo wiring. Connect the vehicle stereo wiring connectors into the corresponding plastic adapter wiring. Connect the adapter wiring harness to the outlets on the rear panel of the new stereo.

Audio equipment requiring the direct-wired connection, splice the wires from the radio and the harness. Place the individual wires of similar color together. Put a plastic connector end on the two exposed wires and crimp the connector with a curling iron wire.

Connect the aerial cable car to the socket on the back of the new stereo labeled “ANT FM” or “antenna”.

Install the new stereo

Pass the stereo adapter cable and the stereo mounting dock wiring. Slide the new stereo into the faceplate adapter sleeve or installation until it clicks into place. The edge of the new music will be level with the adjustment of the faceplate adapter when it is fully seated on the base.
